Hopkin Harries was born in the parish of Llanrhinian, Glamorganshire. This is taken from the 1851 Census. These facts are contradicted in the census of 1861, where he lists his place of birth as Crwys (Cross). This is now called Three Crosses and is just outside Swansea.
The location changes again to Loughor in the 1871 census and then returns to Llanrhidian in the censuses of 1881 and 1891.
All parishes / villages are on or next to the Gower Peninsula, Glamorganshire. The archivist at Swansea's Glamorganshire Archive Service believes Hopkin was born in Crwys as this is a specific village he mentions in the census. - Return to Notes
